NJ Open Update

Today's post is slightly off topic, but I thought I'd drum up some fan support for my younger brother who is playing in this week's NJ Open conducted by the New Jersey State Golf Association. Robert is an amateur and former captain of the Cornell Men's Golf Team.

He finished the first day in a tie for third, one shot off the lead, after shooting a 3-under 69 in Tuesday's opening round at Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle, NJ. A link to the Asbury Park Press story can be found here.

The 54-hole event continues today with another 18 holes before cutting the field to 50 players for tomorrow's 18-hole final round. Live tournament scoring is available from the NJSGA's website here.

Golf Club a Deadly Weapon

It's a slow news day here at Tee, Esq. following yesterday's 4th of July celebrations, but one minor story jumped to our attention. The Burbank Leader is reporting that over the weekend, a local man was arrested for threatening his sister's fiancee with a golf club. The man was charged with attempted assault with a deadly weapon. The deranged man's club selection remains unknown at this time.
